rowena, it is of old german origin meaning fame and happiness. it is also an old english name meaning slender and fair. i read it somewhere it also means gray hair. i do not know about fame but i am happy. yes, i am slender but more of brown-ish than fair in complexion. definitely, the grey hairs are becoming evident to show off wisdom (ha!ha!ha!) than my advancing age...i love to think.
